The type of deep foundation which transfer the load of structure to a required depth.

Pile is a slender member or long cylinder either made of Concrete, Timber or Steel which might be cast-in-situ or precast.

Pile foundations transfer the load by either skin friction, end bearing and friction cum end bearing.

Pile foundation is preferred when the topsoil has a poor bearing capacity and compressible.

Pile Foundation may be classified based on Material, Supporting Action and Size.
